Frequently Asked Questions

Where is this retreat being held?

Dragonfly Yoga Barn is in picturesque Sandwich, New Hampshire, surrounded by rolling hills, vibrant fall foliage, and peaceful country roads. The exact address and directions will be provided upon registration.

What can I expect to get out of this experience?

Aside from the unique benefits you will gain from the outlined experiences - daily yoga, meditation, breath work, fresh air, and movement - you can expect to find a deep sense of rest and renewal from taking time away from the hustle of your daily life. Allowing yourself to unplug and be present brings you home to yourself. Expect to also build lasting connection and friendship with your fellow retreat attendees, finding a sense of support and camaraderie that lasts long after the retreat is over.

What do I need to bring?

Cozy everything! The weather in New Hampshire in October is typical New England fall - sweaters, leggings, sweats, and socks will be your staples. Please also bring clothes to practice yoga in, clothes and shoes to explore the woods on a hike, and a swim suit for the hot tub. You may also bring your own yoga mat, but the Dragonfly Yoga Barn is well stocked with all the props you will need - bolsters, blankets, blocks, straps, and more!

Tell me more about the food!

Delicious, hearty, and seasonal vegetarian meals will be provided and served in the farmhouse, on the retreat property. Guests past have raved about the incredible, fresh, and varietal offerings at brunch and dinner. Light breakfast bites and coffee will be served in the yoga barn before our morning practice. Additional snacks will be provided, but feel free to bring anything special you cannot live without, as there is a fridge and kitchenette on the ground level of the barn. Allergies or dietary restrictions? Let us know ahead of time!

Do I need to be an advanced or serious yogi to attend?

No! This is the biggest myth about yoga retreats - this experience is open and appropriate for yogis of all experience and interest levels. All yoga practices will be modifiable through props or variations. All yoga practices are also optional - you can take what you need and leave what you don't.

What is vibrational breath work?

Vibrational breath work is a unique fusion of conscious connected breath (also known as circular breathing), sound healing, shamanic practices, and body work / gentle touch. Tara developed this modality to weave together all of her practices into one powerful, transformative experience. This deeply immersive journey supports the balance of mind, body, and spirit, facilitating deep healing, insight, and transformation.

What is a sound healing experience?

Sound healing uses the vibrations of instruments—such as crystal singing bowls, drums, and chimes—to help the mind and body relax. The sound waves can calm the nervous system, release tension, and create a meditative state that promotes emotional and physical well-being.

What is yoga nidra?

Yoga Nidra, sometimes called “yogic sleep,” is a deeply restorative guided meditation practiced lying down. It takes you through layers of relaxation to a state between waking and sleeping, where the body rests and the mind remains aware. Many people leave feeling refreshed, grounded, and clear.

What is a cacao ceremony?

A cacao ceremony is a heart-opening ritual using ceremonial-grade cacao (chocolate in its purest form) to connect to ourselves and to each other. Cacao is prepared as a hot beverage and shared in circle. Lauren will facilitated a closing discussion to reflect on the retreat experience, and end with a guided meditation and final sound healing. Cacao will ground, energize and revitalize you as you prepare for your journey home.

Can I come alone?

Yes! Many retreat guests come alone and leave with new friends. Traveling alone has many benefits, including allowing you the full power to choose how you spend your time, the ability to more deeply connect with yourself, the freedom to be the most authentic version of you, and the empowerment of knowing you can handle anything on your own.

I am not interested in the shared dorm style accommodations - do you have private rooms?

Yes - private and semi-private rooms will be available for booking after we have 10 attendees registered for the yoga barn. These are limited and will be first come, first serve. Private and semi-private rooms are located in the farmhouse, where the retreat property hosts reside with their two cats. Guests that stay in the farmhouse mustn't be allergic to cats.
